Small Town Christmas

Right before the stomach flu invaded our household (mid-December), we celebrated the lighting of the Mayor's Christmas tree in our small town.

It was a sweet, hometown-kind of Christmas tree lighting with our local high school choir serenading us and Santa arriving by fire truck. Outside the air was crisp and clear. Neighbors and towns-folk merrily greeted each other. The switch was flipped...and after a pregnant pause...the tree finally lit up!

After the lighting ceremony, we were shepherded into the historic (and warm) gymnasium where arts & crafts booths were manned, face painting was available for the little ones, and Santa greeted visitors with a smile and a picture.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get a good shot of the Mayor's Christmas tree all lit up.  I'm still trying to learn how to take night shots and even the first two I posted are a bit blurry.  Looks like I have a new goal to set for 2011!
